Why spend thousands of dollars installing a special 240V circuit for your EV home charging station when the original 120V circuit in your garage can be converted to 240V?                

This conversion can be done inexpensively by an electrician who will exchange
the single throw circuit breaker in your power panel with a double throw breaker.
Once the circuit has been converted, the electrician will mount the Poulsen Hybrid SmartPower 240 EV charging station on your garage wall and you will have fast 240V Level 2 charging.
The batteries in an electric vehicle typically need 10 to 20 hours for a full charge
from a standard 120 volt household outlet. This is called Level 1 charging. Level 2 charging uses a 240 volt circuit which will charge your car twice as fast as a
Level 1 charger.
What happens to all of the 120 volt outlets in my garage and my electric garage door opener after I convert my garage circuit to 240V?  The patented Poulsen Hybrid SmartPower 240 EV charging station contains a 1500 watt 240V to 120V step down transformer built in that restores 120 volt service to your garage.
The step down transformer is fed from the 240V circuit and supplies 120 volt
power to your garage outlets, door openers, and lighting which would
otherwise have been disabled by the conversion to 240V.
